Course Description
This course emphasizes the Western based assessment and
evidence-based management of common mental health disorders in
children and adolescents. Real case studies from my clinical cases.

Course Overview
This course emphasizes the Western based assessment and
evidence-based management of common mental health disorders in
pediatrics. Tools for screening and identification of common d/o as well
as early intervention will be highlighted. Contents for each d/o will include
epidemiology, incidence, early signs and warnings, differential dx and
sociocultural variations in evidence -based management,
psychopharmacological intervention and MOA.

Discuss students general knowledge of known mental health dx
Case study intro and discussion
Hypothesize about which children may be at higher risk for a d/o
Analyze signs and symptoms of most common d/o
Screening tool introductions
Analyze Western epidemiology, incidence, assessment, differential dx
Evidenced based management of d/o
Case study discussion and questions
Western Psychopharmacology of d/o (genetics, gene expression, MOA,
drug metabolism, research evidence, placebos, addictions etc)
Predictors and risk factors of d/o
Explain differential diagnosis
